ENERGY : COMMISSION CONSULTS ON WIND ENERGY.

In the run-up to its action plan on offshore and coastal water wind energy, the European Commission is now consulting on wind energy. The consultation(1) focuses on questions as to what the "most important barriers" are for future development of offshore energy in Europe and what actions might be taken to address these barriers, especially at EU level. Even though the forthcoming action plan, scheduled for the second half of the year, possibly in November, focuses on wind energy, the Commission is still seeking input from stakeholders that also reflects the many common issues relevant to other offshore renewable energy sources such as wave, tidal and ocean current energy.
