SPANISH WIND ENERGY MERGER OKAYED.

The European Commission authorised, on 4 December, the acquisition of Gamesa Energia's businesses for the promotion and development of wind farms in continental Europe, UK, Mexico and the Dominican Republic by Iberdrola Renovables, a Spanish energy company. The EU executive noted that the horizontal overlap in the parties' activities on the Spanish market for the generation and wholesale distribution of electricity was limited.
