NEW SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL MEMBERS APPOINTED.

The European Commission appointed, on 27 April, three new members of the Scientific Council of the European Research Council, the EU funding body for frontier research. The Scientific Council is an independent body whose role is to determine the ERC's scientific strategy and ensure that its operations are conducted according to the requirements of scientific excellence.
The three members selected under an independent process for a four-year term of office are: Sierd Cloething (professor at Free University of Amsterdam), Carlos Duarte (member of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research) and Henrietta Moore (professor at University of Cambridge).
