POWER INDUSTRY GRANTS ETA AWARDS FOR ENERGY-EFFICIENCY TECHNOLOGIES.

European power industry lobby Eurelectric handed out its fourth 'Eta Awards for energy efficiency' on 23 October at the World Expo 2000 exhibition in Hanover. The aim of the Eta Award scheme is to identify and reward companies in the manufacturing sector which have improved their business performance through the adoption of efficient electro-technologies.

The jury, composed of Eurelectric experts, European Commission energy experts, plus representatives of the IEA (International Energy Agency) and UIE (International Union for Electricity applications), rewarded the whisky-cask manufacturer Speyside Cooperage from the UK in the category 'less than 100 staff companies'.
