SPE AND VESTAS WIN WIND POWER CONCESSION.

Belgium's Flemish Government has awarded the public power company Societe Publique d'Electricite (SPE) and its Danish partner Vestas the concession to operate wind power turbines in the Western dyke of the port of Zeebrugge, following a call for tenders issued last June. SPE responded to the call by joining forces with Vestas, the wind turbine constructor.

The tender put in by the SPE-Vestas consortium was selected as the best out of a total of six submissions. The wind power plant planned at the port of Zeebrugge will be partly built on the Western dyke and partly beyond it. No fewer than 14 windmills with a power of 2 MW each can be established on this particularly windy site. Now that the winner of the concession is known, the necessary permits can be applied...
