FINS MAY CUT THEIR STAKE IN FORTUM.

The Finnish government is considering cutting its 71% stake in energy group Fortum Corp (hydrocarbons, electricity), to help the power group make more acquisitions, said the Minister of Trade and Industry. The government has already got Parliament's authorisation to cut its stake to 50.1%. The Minister did not reveal either the number of shares to be sold nor when it was likely to happen nor subject to what conditions the sale might be made.

According to the Finnish and Norwegian media, Fortum, which plans to concentrate on the Nordic region, has been discussing merging its electricity arm with Norwegian publicly owned company Statkraft...JJ:(HB)
