ESSENT, INEOS TO BUILD BELGIAN POWER PLANT.

Leading Dutch utility Essent said it and British chemical firm INEOS will build a combined heat and power plant in Belgium, strengthening its number one European ranking in co-generation. The plant, to be opened in early 2005 in the port city of Antwerp, will have capacity of 120 megawatts and also will produce 220 tonnes of steam per hour, Essent said in a statement.

The power plant will be built on the banks of the river Schelde at the existing Antwerp complex of INEOS, which will use the entire steam output. Essent, which will invest more than Euro 80 million in the plant, will sell the electricity in Belgium through its subsidiary WattPlus. "The investment fits into Essent's target to gain a strong position in the Belgium energy market", the statement said....
