FRAMATOME ANP TENDERS TO BUILD NUCLEAR REACTOR IN FINLAND.

Europe Energy, April, 2003

Framatome ANP, a subsidiary of Areva and Siemens, has tendered an offer to Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) for the construction of the fiftieth nuclear reactor in Finland. Framatome ANP sells two types of reactors: the EPR, a pressurised water reactor (which has never actually been built), and the SWR 1000, boiling water reactor.

"With the EPR and the SWR 1000, we have the most advanced reactors in the world in terms of competitiveness, economy and safety" said Vincent Maurel, the president of Framatome ANP. The EPR and the SWR are reactors developed by Framatome ANP, in co-operation with the leading electricity companies and European safety authorities. Their electricity capacity exceeds that demanded by TVO. The SWR 1000 is an advanced reactor.
