WIND POWER COULD MEET 12% OF WORLD ELECTRICITY DEMAND.

Wind power could meet 12% of global electricity in 2020 with a total investment of Euro 674 billion, says a recent study carried out by industries in the sector and Greenpeace. In total, 1.2 million MW of wind generators could be installed by 2020 world wide, as opposed to the 32,000 MW which existed at the end of 2002, notes the document published by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) and Greenpeace.

The investment necessary is realistic if one compares it with investments by electricity companies world wide in the 90s which were between Euro 158-186 billion per year, continues the document (www.ewea.org).
