ENI, GAZPROM LOOK AT LINKS IN EXPLORATION, MARKETING.

Eni SpA said on October 21 it will study widening its cooperation deal with Gazprom to foster hydrocarbon exploration in Russia, the sale of oil products outside Russia and the marketing of gas in Europe. After a meeting in Moscow, the companies agreed that a cooperation deal signed on May 10, 2005 is outdated.

Instead they will proceed with the definition of a wider agreement which will be submitted to clearance by antitrust authorities. The companies will meet again by the end of the month to 'fix the overall outlook of the new cooperation', especially in the light of Gazprom's expansion into oil production with the purchase of the Russian group Sibneft.
