The European Commission has granted clearance to Dutch electronics firm Philips to acquire Lumileds Lighting of the US. Philips designs, manufactures and sells a broad range of electronic and lighting products. It currently has joint control of Lumileds, a manufacturer and seller of LEDs (light emitting diodes).
The transaction was examined under the EU's simplified merger review procedure.
