COMMISSION GETS GREEN LIGHT FOR INTEGRATED INNOVATION STRATEGY.

European Union Research and Industry Ministers have backed the integrated research and innovation strategy proposed by the European Commission on October 12. The strategy consists of 19 measures designed to spark a "radical" improvement in conditions for research and innovation in Europe by improving the coherence of existing instruments. The Competitiveness Council on November 28 in Brussels backed a series of measures proposed by the Commission, namely: tax incentives for R&D, a European innovation and research observation system, improvements in the use of public procurement to stimulate innovation, analysis of national reform programmes and the creation of a European innovation prize.
