Policy-makers pushed the boat out on 22 Marchfor the inauguration of the Renewable Energy House at the heart of the European district in Brussels. The European Commission was out in force with its President and four Commissioners. This 120-year-old protected building puts a roof over all the main associations working in the sector.

Its 2,000 m2 offer a model showcase for cutting-edgea technologies in the field of renewable energy resources: a fully automatic 80kW wood pellet boiler, four 115m deep geothermal boreholes, 60m2 of solar thermal collectors providing heat for the thermally driven coooling system, and energy-efficiency measures that can reduce the annual energy consumption for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning by half.
