The European Commission approved a 2 million aid package on 20 July aimed at restructuring and modernising the local Polish energy company Energetyka Wis osan. The Commission has also launched an in-depth probe under state aid rules to verify whether 5.5 million of restructuring aid in favour of Polish non-ferrous metals producer Huta Cynku Miasteczko Slaskie is compatible with the Single Market.
The Commission approved 2.9 million of rescue aid for HCM in September 2005.
