EUROPEANS OUT IN FORCE AT G8 SUMMIT.

Alongside the normal line-up of Angela Merkel, Tony Blair, Jacques Chirac and Romano Prodi, two other European heavyweights will be sitting in on the G8 Summit in St Petersburg on 15-17 July, namely Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen and current President of the European Council and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso. They will be seeking to secure the inclusion in the final declaration on energy of a series of principles on energy security concerning all links in the energy chain: producers, consumers and transit countries.
