In a new position paper, SME employers' and crafts organisation UEAPME added to repeated calls for full ownership unbundling, price caps and the bending state aid rules to enable more help with energy investments. According to UEAPME, the EU's energy policy will drastically impact on SMEs due to small business suffering more from inefficient competition in the energy sector.

According to Hanns-Eberhard Schleyer, Secretary General of the German SME confederation ZDH, SMEs and crafts are disproportionately affected by current lack of competition in the energy sector.
