OWNERSHIP UNBUNDLING : SMES WANT MORE ACTION AGAINST ENERGY MONOPOLIES.

The SME employers' association UEAPME voiced mixed feelings over the report by MEP Alejo Vidal-Quadras (EPP-ED, Spain) on the internal gas and electricity market. UEAPME believes MEPs have been "far too indulgent" towards energy giants. Even if Vidal-Quadras' own initiative report, adopted by the European Parliament on 10 July, calls for ownership unbundling and increased cooperation among EU energy regulators, MEPs were too confident of national watchdogs, according to UEAPME.
