POLAND/EXPLOITATION OF OIL AND GAS.

Europe Energy, February, 2008

The European Commission sent, on 31 January, the Polish authorities a reasoned opinion ordering it to amend its procedures on the conditions for granting and using authorisations for the prospection, exploration and production of hydrocarbons (94/22/EC). The reason is that the Commission believes that Poland has not correctly implemented the 1994 directive.

The EU executive singles out the fact that Polish legislation requires interested parties to be registered and that the manner in which the conditions and requirements for the performance or termination of the activity are laid down and made available cannot be considered to be comply with the directive.
