ELDR/SUMMIT : LIBERALS WARN AGAINST BACKTRACKING ON TARGETS.

The European Liberal Democrat and Reform Party (ELDR) strongly supports the European Commission's proposals on how to tackle climate change, underlining that any backtracking on earlier commitments undertaken by the member states is unacceptable. Although "tough," the Commission's proposals equally affect the interests of all member states, the Liberals emphasised ahead of the European Council meeting, where climate change, energy policy and the Lisbon strategy feature high on the agenda.
