NLC President Sharpe James last week urged every local leader in America to join forces in sending a message to Congress:

"From the smallest towns to the greatest cities, reducing crime and violence is our number one priority.

"Our Board of Directors, based upon the opinions and votes of over one thousand city leaders, set dealing with crime as our most important Action Agenda item for 1994. Now we have to deliver.

"We began the process on Tuesday, with thousands of elected officials carrying the message directly to Congress. On Wednesday, we met with President Clinton to carry the message to the top.

"Now we need to bring the message back home, and from every home and every town back to Washington: The 1994 Crime Bill: Don't Leave...
