President Clinton has invited NLC's leaders to help lead a massive grassroots rally at the White House this week to urge House action on pending anti-crime legislation.

Hundreds of local government officials, police chiefs and other community leaders will assemble Thursday morning on the south lawn outside the White House to demonstrate their support for swift consideration of the crime bill.

Their meeting with President Clinton and other top administration officials will be followed by a bus caravan to Capitol Hill for a meeting and rally with Speaker Tom Foley (D-Wash.) and other House leaders, and then more meetings with individual members.
