Sen Bob Dole had indicated that he would submit a crime bill amendment permitting public safety funds to be sent directly to cities, but such an amendment was never proposed. Pres Carolyn Long Banks of the National League of Cities has expressed her disappointment at Dole's actions.
Local officials were disappointed last week when Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole broke a promise to offer an amendment to a pending crime bill Dole's amendment was supposed to allow public safety funds to be funneled directly to cities.
