Humility and willpower are two of the keys to leadership and leading well, according to Stephen Covey, author of `The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" and co-founder and vice chairman of Franklin-Covey, during a speech at the Congress of Cities in Salt Lake City.
Covey spoke about how he was inspired by the humility and willpower of Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton, who received the American City and County Municipal Leader of the Year award prior to Covey's keynote speech.
I suggest that leadership is fundamentally moral authority, not formal authority," Covey said. "Management is formal authority"
