Congress moves to expand Internet Tax moratorium for DSL lines.(Brief Article)

Congress is poised to greatly expand the preemptive authority of the Internet Tax moratorium by amending the law to guarantee that digital subscriber line (DSL) services are not subject to taxation.
"We are extremely concerned over Congress' continued willingness to preempt state and local governments taxing authority in these extremely difficult times," said NLC Executive Director Donald J. Borut. "As Congress preempts these revenue sources, citizens in communities across the nation suffer as vital local services and programs are cut back."
This carve-out for DSL would effectively put those telecommunications services on par with cable modem and satellite broadband services, which are not subject to local taxing authority. If enacted, this...
