COMMISSION PROPOSES TO HELP AMERICAN AIRLINES WITH CRS CODE

EC Transport Commissioner, Abel Matutes, has offered the United States Transport Secretary, Federico Pena, help for American Airlines to apply the Community's new code of conduct for computerised reservation services in practice. EC experts are apparently ready to hold technical meetingswith American Airlines and Sabre, its CRS, in order to help them to implement the new Regulation without too much disruption, the Commission says. The code of conduct, which received approval in principle from the EC Council of Transport Ministers on September 28 requires CRSs to be "dehosted", that is, separated from their parent company's internal computer system by a technical interface, and to exist as a distinct legal entity.
