ROAD SAFETY: CAR FRONTS UNSAFE FOR CYCLISTS AND PEDESTRIANS.

At a press conference organised to launch the campaign, Dutch MEP Pam Cornelissen (EPP) said that making cars safer for pedestrians is the European Parliament's number one priority for EU action on road safety. The Parliament has set the political target of reducing the number of road traffic victims by 50% in the next 15 years.
" The Commission and Member States must act now to stop this needless carnage which is so costly in human terms and for society as a whole", he said. His British colleague Mark Watts (PES) said that the history of pedestrian protection in the European Union is one of excuses and delays.
