ALLIANCE BETWEEN BMW, GM AND DAIMLERCHRYSLER FOR HYBRID MOTORS.

Transport Europe, September, 2005

The German automobile manufacturer BMW is joining the American General Motors and the German-American DaimlerChrysler to develop and produce hybrid motors (internal combustion and electricity). BMW has signed a letter of intent for collaboration on a new type of dual propulsion motor to be developed at a joint research centre based in Troy, Michigan.

DaimlerChrysler and General Motors were already linked by a prior cooperation agreement that was signed at the end of August. The alliance is open to other possible partners, as the three groups explained in their joint press release. The three automobile manufacturers hope to conclude a final agreement before the end of the year.
