JUSTICE AND HOME AFFAIRS : MEPS CALL FOR REVIEW OF EU HAND LUGGAGE RESTRICTIONS.

MEPs in Strasbourg have adopted a resolution calling for a repeal of a recent legislation on the restriction of liquids passengers can take onboard planes that has caused massive queues and sour faces at airports.

With 464 votes in favour, 158 against and 70 abstentions, MEPs on 5 September adopted a resolution which urges the European Commission to review urgently and - if no further conclusive facts are presented- to repeal Regulation (EC) No 1546/2006.

The regulation was adopted last September following an alleged terrorist plot in the UK to blow up transatlantic airliners.

Under the regulation, passengers cannot carry liquid containers of more than 100 millilitres onboard airplanes in their hand luggage. More than one container is allowed...
