TRANSPORT COUNCIL : MINISTERS WANT TRANSPARENT AIR TICKET PRICES.

A second-reading agreement between the European Parliament and the EU Council of Ministers on the revision of the Third Aviation Package should be possible quite quickly (see box). The Transport Council, gathered in Brussels on 30 November, managed to reach a unanimous political agreement, which largely takes account of MEPs' opinions and which, according to the Portuguese EU Presidency, "should be identical to the one that the Parliament will vote on in second reading". The most noticeable aspect for consumers: the prices published will now have to include all the taxes, charges, surcharges and other expenses today regularly added to the price which was initially announced by the carriers.
