EXTERNAL COSTS IN TRANSPORT.
Transport Europe, January, 2008
The European Commission released, on 15 January, a compilation of existing studies on external costs in the transport sector, evidently in preparation for the communication that it must present by June 2008 at the latest, in compliance with the Eurovignette Directive (1999/62/EC modified by Directive 2006/38/EC).
This communication - which will include a methodology for the calculation of external costs - should be accompanied by a proposal to modify the Eurovignette Directive. The compilation, totalling 336 pages, is available at ec.europa.eu/transport/costs/handbook/index_en.htm (ISM)
