JUST A THREAT.

"A true revolution in the trans-Atlantic sky." These are the terms used by EU Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot in welcoming the coming into force, on 30 March, of the Open Sky agreement between the EU and the USA. His gaze has already turned to the second phase of negotiations, which will start on 15 May this year in Ljubljana.
European companies are expecting a great deal from this second phase, particularly in terms of market access and additional investment opportunities in American airlines. These points are particularly sensitive on the other side of the Atlantic. Barrot nonetheless did not let the opportunity go to waste, bringing up the possibility of "withdrawing new traffic rights" from the Americans if the progress in the coming negotiations was...
