E-Business: Rise of the CPO.
Technical Communication, May, 2001 by Pesante, Linda
F. Mogul. 2000. Internet world (November):35-38.
The CPO, Chief Privacy Office, position has emerged as companies began to face lawsuits for invasion of privacy and the U.S. Congress began considering legislation to regulate Net data collection. The goal of any CPO is ensuring that the company lives up to its privacy commitments in its business practice. Other activities include drafting, implementing, and enforcing guidelines; instilling company-wide sensitivity to consumer privacy; lobbying legislators; and persuading the public that they are trustworthy guardians of personal information.
