WASHINGTON, D.C. -- NPCA recently praised Washington, D.C., Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton for introducing and shepherding the passage of legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives to include the home of African-American scholar Carter G. Woodson in the National Park System. The legislation, H.R.
1012, authorizes the Park Service to take ownership of Dr. Woodson's home in Washington, D.C., currently a national historic landmark, and re-designate it the Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site. "We encourage the U.S. Senate to pass, and the president to sign, this legislation to preserve the home of Carter G.
