Sears, Roebuck and Co. named Jerry Post president of Hardware Stores. Effective immediately, Post assumes operating responsibility for 177 Sears and 78 Orchard Supply Hardware stores. Post succeeds Gary Crittendon, who was recently named chief financial officer for Sears' Post helped develop the original business designs for Sears Paint and Hardware stores in the early 1980s. Most recently he served as vice president and general manager for The Great Indoors.

Post, a 30-year Sears veteran, also gained hardware background as vice president and general manager of the home improvement merchandise category from 1993 to 1995 and national business manager for home improvement in 1992.

Crittenden had held the position as president of Sears Hardware Stores since January 1997.
