CARTER LUMBER, Akron, Ohio -- has acquired Holmes Lumber and Building Materials. The purchase price was not disclosed. Both companies have locations in Millersburg, Ohio, where Holmes Lumber is headquartered. Holmes has two other Ohio locations, in Hartville and Sugarcreek. All three yards will continue to operate as Holmes Lumber.
In addition, CEO Bryan Carter has retired after 40 years. As the son of Van Carter and grandson of company thunder W.E. Carter, Bryan joined the family business as a part-time employee in 1964 at the age of 13. Current president Neil Sackett will now also serve as CEO.
