Expanding the brand's reach is a driving force behind Ace's retail initiatives. According to Griffith, half of the U.S. population is located within three miles of an Ace retail outlet. At the same time, half of the population is beyond this three-mile radius that Ace believes is important as a convenience factor for shoppers. From Ace's perspective, there are many underserved hardware markets in the U.S. where it can open new Ace stores. In addition, there are Ace retailers who are not fully tapping into the potential of existing markets because of the stores' locations or size. Griffith admits there are challenges to implementing the aggressive expansion plan including finding and securing the best locations and training to run the operations.
