Last December, when Ace Hardware President and CEO David Hodnik officially announced his plans to retire from the hardware co-op on April 1, 2005, a logical successor was already in place. The company's board of directors quickly selected Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ray Griffith to succeed Hodnik.
"Ace's sound management succession plan will ensure a smooth and seamless transition from Dave to Ray Griffith's leadership," Ace Chairman Tom Glenn said. "We are confident that Ray will continue the strong and visionary leadership exemplified by Dave."
