Amy Girod Zuniga was a litigation unit handler for State Farm Insurance Co and, once she left, revealed many fraudulent practices, including ones implicated in pending litigation. State Farm attempted to silence her using a strategic lawsuits against public participation suit after her testimony had resulted in a reversal of a summary judgment ruling for State Farm. The California Supreme Court chose not to review the Second District Court of Appeals ruling denying attorney-client privilege protection to Zuniga's statements because of the crime/fraud exception.
