The Vatican goes green.(signs of the times)(Brief article)
U.S. Catholic, August, 2007
ROME -- Vatican engineer Pier Carlo Cuscianna announced plans to replace the concrete roof atop one of the Holy City's auditoriums with solar panels, the Boston Globe reports.
The new solar panels will look similar to the current concrete roof of the 6,000-square-yard Paul VI Hall. Energy absorbed through the roof will feed into a network that powers the Vatican.
The move fits Pope Benedict's message to Catholics to take "care of creation without squandering its resources and sharing them in a convivial manner," made in a speech last summer, according to Independent Catholic News.
