Congress expected to reintroduce mold bill. (Capitol Beat).

The issue of mold continues to plague the real estate and insurance industries. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), author of last year's failed U.S. Toxic Mold Safety and Protection Act, indicated that he will reintroduce his bill. That measure imposed numerous mold-related requirements on those who sell, lease or inspect residential property.

NAA/NMHC will continue to urge Congress to wait to consider any mold standards until there is better science available. Not waiting for Congress to act, however, a number of states have introduced their own mold-related bills. NAA/NMHC are closely monitoring these legislative initiatives and will notify and mobilize affected members as necessary.
