Congress prioritizes war, spending bills.(CAPITOL UPBEAT)

Congress returned in September from its summer recess last week after a month off with a busy agenda that will likely be dominated by the debate on the Iraq war and the unfinished annual appropriations bills. Those issues will make many of the housing-related bills pending in Congress a lower priority.
Congress will continue to work on housing-related legislation this fall, but final action on many NAA/NMHC-supported bills could be postponed until next year. For example, Section 8-voucher reform legislation is expected to be introduced in the Senate soon, but its prospects for passage before lawmakers adjourn for the year are unclear.
