Recruiting firms often are called upon to replace valued employees who have left their employers for so-called greener pastures, The first question these firms generally ask their company clients is, "Why did he or she leave?"
The answer often is, "He was offered a salary, almost twice what I was paying him," or "She was offered a position in which she has a greater stake in company profits." In short, the new opportunities are offers they could not refuse.
