As the UK Government concludes seven regional studies, a vital prerequisite to its long-awaited White Paper on airport capacity in London and the South East through 2030, leading executives from the industry continue to debate the options.
A number of possibilities are under discussion, ranging from growth at existing airports to the construction of a new hub airport on a green field site. Speaking at the Airport Capacity Issues conference in London on April 9, organised by Aberdeen's Robert Gordon University, Roy McNulty, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed this as "an issue that cannot be avoided any longer".
