Senai to expand.(Asia Pacific)(Senai Airport Terminal Services )(Brief Article)

Airports International, March, 2004

Malaysia's Senai Airport Terminal Services (SATS) is to spend Ringgit 1 billion ($0.26 billion) over the next five years to turn the airport's terminal into a logistics hub, thereby exploiting its proximity to Singapore. SATS Director Mohamad Sidik Shaik Osman says he wants to raise 70-80% of the capital from banks this spring.

The expansion drive follows SATS' take-over of the Johor state airport from Malaysia Airports Holdings last October. A key priority will be the development of a cargo centre. (SW)
