Cargo security tests.(Americas)(Brief Article)

Airports International, October, 2004

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has begun a two-month evaluation of explosives detection devices at several commercial air cargo-handling facilities, with the aim of enhancing break-bulk air cargo inspection. The project began at Atlanta, Dallas Fort Worth and Miami and will be expanded to Anchorage, Los Angeles (LAX) and Chicago O'Hare in the near future.

TSA will analyse the use of explosives detection systems, currently used to screen checked bags, for screening break-bulk cargo as one of its Air Cargo Strategic Plan initiatives. L-3's examiner 3DX 6000 will be used at four of the airports.
