IATA forecasts strong growth.(International Air Transport Association)

IATA's 2004-2008 cargo and passenger traffic forecasts indicate 6% annual growth for both international passengers and cargo. "It looks like 2004 will end with the strongest traffic rebound since 1991," said IATA's DG Giovanni Bisignani. "These projections out to 2008 are in line with historical industry trends. If nothing changes in the operating environment, this is indeed the start of a good news story for the whole industry."
IATA predicts that passenger numbers for 2004 will show growth of 11% over 2003 (14% if measured in revenue passenger kilometres). "While this is related to a recovery from Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in 2003, two underlying factors are important.
