First A380 Gate ready at Changi.(news)(Brief Article)
Airports International, November, 2005
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore has converted Terminal 2's F31 Gate and its gate holdroom into an A380-compatible gate. As the 555-seat A380 represents a 30% increase in passenger-carrying capacity over that of a Boeing 747-400, Gate F31 is the first of several planned conversions.
In the process it has been equipped with a third Passenger Loading Bridge and gangway to service the aircraft. CAAS will be progressively upgrading a number of gate holdrooms at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and adding a third PLB at these gates. When Terminal 3 opens for operations by 2008, there will be a total of 19 gates at Changi to serve A380 flights. (CAAS)
