Finland's Civil Aviation Administration has been broken up into separate operating authorities. The reorganisation has resulted in two bodies, the Civil Aviation Authority and Finavia. Finavia has assumed the role of operating Helsinki-Vantaa and 24 other airports in Finland, with Samuli Haapasalo its CEO. It also becomes the country's air navigation service provider.

A record number of passengers used Finavia airports in 2005 with traffic exceeding 15 million, 4%
