Lighting Liege: Siemens ADB equips Liege Airport with a new airfield lighting and monitoring system.(Airfield Lighting)
Airports International, May, 2007 by Allett, Tom
The Siemens subsidiary, ADB has received an order from the Fabricom GTI consortium, Belgium, and SM Yvan Paque VSE, Belgium, to equip Liege Airport with new airfield lighting and monitoring system.
Background
Liege Airport is to the north-west of the city, in eastern Belgium. It is perhaps best-known for being the first European airport to choose its scheduled services primarily to meet cargo transport needs. Passenger services are currently secondary, though low cost flights do play an increasingly significant role.
Liege has been TNT's European Hub since 1998 and that has helped the airport achieve top 10 status in the European airfreight league. Over the last five years, its freight and passenger transport has risen by 20%.
