Thales wins CAAS ATC tender.(Product & Service Announcements)

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has awarded its tender for a new Air Traffic Control system to Thales. The new setup, for the Long Range Radar and Display System III (LORADS III), will replace the current LORADS II. Thales says LORADS III will feature state-of-the-art designs and technologies that will enable air traffic controllers to: "safely handle increasing air traffic beyond the next decade." The company says it has been designed for better reliability, LORADS III will also employ advanced surveillance and communications technologies to: "build in tighter safety nets and streamline air traffic management processes."
